Than is a conjunction and is only used to compare things.

Martin is smarter than Simon.
It’s warmer in Italy than in Spain.

He drinks more than he should.

Then

Then usually relates to time. It is most commonly used as an adverb.

Examples
Go to the traffic lights, then turn right.

Then has several different meanings:

1. At that time

2. Next in time, space, or order
We watched a movie and then went out for dinner.

3. Also, besides
The computer costs $1000, and then there is sales tax.

4. In that case, accordingly
